ITA was founded on March 14, 2000, with the aim of improving the collaboration and exchange of information between the car manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers on the one hand, and the IT-Service Providers on the other hand, with emphasis on the analysis of the supply chain.

Currently more than 50 leading firms from the ICT and consulting sector, with a wide range of core competences, are represented in ITA. With their deep knowledge of the automotive business processes, and the capability to develop and implement the specific ICT systems needed by the industry, or to provide ICT-technology they advice in a consulting role.

Once a year the ITA congress gives the industry leaders and ITA members the possibility to discuss the latest trends, technologies and solutions. ITA is also co-organizer of the VDA logistics congress.

ITA projects automotive experts and ICT specialists work together to develop new state of the art solutions for the collaboration in supply chain and to develop innovative results.

ITA participates in national & international committees and organizations such as e.g. VDA, ODETTE, AIAG, AKJ and others.

This ensures the transfer of know-how and competences, and enables ITA to influence developments on the international and European levels, with the result that the ICT help the automotive industry to implement more innovative, effective and efficient solutions to achieve further improvements and competitive advantages.
