ITA was founded on March 14, 2000, with the aim of improving the exchange of information between the car manufacturers and suppliers on the one hand, and the IT-Service Providers on the other hand, with emphasis on the analysis of supply chain logistics.
Currently more than 50 well-known firms from the IT sector, with a wide range of core competences, are represented in ITA. They know the automotive business processes in detail, and have the capability to develop and implement the specific IT systems needed by the industry, or to provide IT-technology advice in a consulting role. The ITA-member firms employed in 2009 around 775.000 personnel and booked revenues of around 135 billion Euro.
ITA participates in international committees and organisations e.g. ODETTE, AIAG and OAGi. This ensures the transfer of know-how and competence, and enables ITA to influence developments on the international and european levels, with the result that the IT-based automotive processes become more transparent to all and therefore more effective.
